There’s a house in Newmarket at the top of the High Street
It is owned by Mrs. Lucey she’s as jolly as you would meet
It’s there we have the ructions when evenings come you see
It is the main headquarters of that gang called T.O.B.
Now we have Richard Hennessey a man of music fame
For tearing on the gadget he has earned quite a name
But he has other qualities to excel his harmony
He is our famed comedian in the ranks of T.O.B.
Now we have Benny Murphy and Jer Brown’s Johnny too
And the dynamic Richard Scanlon of the band called Number 2
Now we have Thomas Linehan and his pal Den Dennehy
Who for the singing both are famous in the ranks of T.O.B.
Now we have Patrick Greaney a carpenter of renown
Who’s trying to make a city to our small Newmarket town
At building he is every day but when evening comes you see
He is the real professional figure in the ranks of T.O.B.
We had another member Mick Burns was the man
But he has long forsaken us for a roadside caravan
But to him we wish the best of luck wherever he may be
His name is now crossed off the roll of the gang called T.O.B.
At about ten comes Mrs. Lucey when her days work is done
At first she’ll start inquiring if Autie is home gone
And if he isn’t she’ll rout the lot saying go home to hell let ye
My door I won’t keep open for the gang called T.O.B.
To all the names I’ve mentioned an apology I send
As it is not my intention anybody to offend
I hope they’ll take it in good part and have no blame to me
Success and luck are what I wish on the gang called T.O.B.
