Stories in song Vol.1, a miscellany of songs, lyrics and anecdotes from Duhallow with accompanying CD
“Pull out the Choke”

This is the title of a book which has recently been published by Moses Bridge Publications.. It contains 61 songs, 35 poems and some stories. It’s a collection compiled by Tim Browne of songs and poems/songs written chiefly by Duhallow songwriters/poets or the content of the material is relevant to Duhallow. The CD has fifteen songs from the collection on it and musical notation is included in the book for over twenty-five more of the songs. The recording has some dance tune selections also.
A very interesting feature of the publication is that it has a Glossary/Gluais included with over 400 entries There are also a number of essays/stories thrown in for good measure and the book is loaded with interesting pictures and frames.

The book/CD is being launched at the Trade Union Hall, Strand St., Kanturk, Co. Cork on Saturday, September 15th at 8p.m. and a big line up of musicians, singers and performers has been arranged. See the publicity poster on this site.

The project was funded jointly by IRD LEADER + funding in the form of a 50% publishing grant and very generous sponsorship from The DEIS Scheme of the Irish Arts Council. The book may be purchased directly from Moses Bridge Publications and a few selected outlets only. Advance purchase is strongly advised as only a limited number of copies will be available.

The cost including postage and packing to anywhere in the world is €40 for the Softback edition and €50 including the CD. The CD may also be purchased separately and cost €20 including postage and packing to any destination. Profits from the sale of the hardback edition are going towards the running costs of Feile Dúthalla which will be held in November 2008 in the locality.
